MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – The Peter White Public Library gallery exhibit is the Bee Sisterhood Oracle Project. This gallery connects the process of bee keeping to the process of a spiritual awakening. Also some of the original members were bee keepers themselves.
This gallery is made up of art work created by women in the Bee Sisterhood project. There is art work from all across the nation, some being local to the U.P. others lower Michigan, some even in Texas and California. All the funds collected from this exhibit go to women facing financial insecurities in the “hive” community.
The Bees are representation for the “hive” community the bee sisterhood has built and continues to build.
“That the process of not just collecting but creating the honey and each of the life cycles of the bees really spoke to that same process of spiritual awakening” Amelia Pruiett, City of Marquette art and culture communications coordinator.
There will be an opening reception for the Bee Sisterhood exhibit and the Huron Mountain Club Gallery on June 13th from 6 to 8 P.M. Also June 26th there is a Gift of the Hive events at this exhibit for Art week. For information on purchasing art work and anything else, go to their website.
