MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Thursday marks the 80th anniversary of one of the most pivotal days of World War II, D-day, and a U.P. movie theater group is commemorating the anniversary.
Thomas Theatre Group’s three locations in Marquette, Quinnesec, and Escanaba are airing a special film from Thursday through Sunday. “The Girl Who Wore Freedom” tells a story from the point of view of the French and what they witnessed as U.S. troops arrived to liberate France from the axis powers.
On June 6 1944, over 130,000 allied service members landed on the beaches of Normandy, taking over and forcing the surrender of German forces.
