IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – This Saturday, Iron Mountain’s Riverside Auto kicks off the 20th anniversary of its Veterans’ Tribute Ride. Registration for the charity motorcycle ride runs from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m CST at Riverside Auto, located at N3696 US-2. Volunteers are gearing up for the motorcycle motorcade, and this year, participants will once again get to shake hands with community heroes at the Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center throughout the course of the event, after a break in years past during the pandemic. Terry Priddy, the committee president for this year’s 20th annual Veterans’ Tribute ride, shared:
“This year, we’re taking it from Riverside, we’ll have a stop at the VA. The VA is actually going to have a sanitation station for everybody to sanitize their hands and stuff. And this year they’ll have the vets out, and we’ll be able to shake their hands. Before all of Covid, we always did. We always went up and shook their hands and got to hug them and talk to them, and they’re amazing. They cry, and they thank us like we’re some celebrities or something, and it’s like ‘no you are!’ you are our heroes.”
Whether you ride a motorcycle or drive a car, the entry fee is $20 per person to participate, and an after-party awaits at the ride’s end point: The Maxx Entertainment Center. All proceeds support local veteran organizations within 50 miles. Don’t miss the full story on the tribute ride and memorial weekend festivities, coming tomorrow on your WZMQ 19 News.
