ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Monday afternoon, a portion of US-2 west of Escanaba reopened after being closed to traffic for more than a week.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), the east approach to the bridge over Portage Creek suffered pavement damage due to recent rains and high water. Roads eastbound and westbound were closed while crews made emergency repairs beginning on May 3, with a detour posted to redirect traffic.
The detour was lifted just before 4:00 p.m. on Monday after repaving was completed.
