HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a larceny complaint that led to the discovery of drugs at a home in Hancock.
The sheriff’s office began its investigation into a felony larceny complaint at the Copper Country Mall in Portage Township in April. On May 7, deputies executed a search warrant at an apartment on Quincy St. in Hancock.
Deputies found a large quantity of stolen items from numerous businesses in Houghton and Portage Township. Deputies also found a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine and other evidence of drug distribution.
A man was arrested and taken to the Houghton County jail on larceny and drug-related charges.
The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office expected additional charges will be filed by the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hancock Police Department, the Michigan State Police, and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET).
