KINGSFORD, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Dickinson County Community Chorus embarked on its debut rehearsal for the “Music Under the Stars” concert series, themed “The Great American Songbook.” Set against Lake Antoine Park’s scenic backdrop, the event will feature classics from the 1930s, paying homage to Tony Bennett. The director emphasizes music’s healing power, especially for those battling Alzheimer’s.
‘We’re going to talk about the Alzheimer’s a little bit in the program. So many of us have lost people in our lives, or have people in our lives that have dementia. And how music is so important to them. And how they’ll lose everything else – every other ability. But they can still sing songs.´
Open rehearsals continue every Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, welcoming all voices. The Music Under the Stars Concert will be held at Lake Antoine Park on Sunday, July 14th at 7 p.m. CST.
