ISHPMEING, Mich, (WZMQ) – The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has given Ishpeming the Redevelopment Ready Communities ‘Essentials’ designation.
The classification lets developers and business know that Ishpeming has the people and procedures in place to allow for new development.
It also makes more state and grant funding available for the city.
“There are new businesses coming into town and they are able to take advantage of programs that the city is offering,” said City Manager Craig Cugini, “but now we’ll reach even deeper into the pockets of the state, through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and get some great er assistance and some greater opportunities.”
The City of Ishpeming plans to continue to advance to higher levels of certification with MEDC in the coming months.
