LAURIUM, Mich. – After a decade of steadfast commitment and transformative leadership, Ed Jenich bids farewell to his role as the Executive Director of The Keweenaw Health Foundation.
His tenure, marked by innovation and community-centric initiatives, leaves an indelible mark on the organization’s legacy. As Jenich steps away from his position as Executive Director, the transition unveils a silver lining. Jenich’s journey doesn’t end here; instead, he assumes the role as Vice President on the board of directors, a position he previously held before taking on the Executive Director role in 2014. This shift ensures the continuity of his invaluable guidance and expertise within the organization.
Jenich’s journey with The Keweenaw Health Foundation has been characterized by unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare accessibility and quality in the region. Throughout his tenure, he spearheaded numerous projects and initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services, enhancing infrastructure, and fostering community wellness. Under his leadership, the foundation witnessed significant growth and garnered widespread recognition for its impactful contributions.
Reflecting on his tenure, Jenich expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community he holds dear. “It has been a privilege to live and work alongside passionate individuals dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of our community,” he remarked. “I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together and am confident in the foundation’s continued success.”
While Jenich’s departure marks the end of an era, it also heralds an exciting new chapter for The Keweenaw Health Foundation. Effective January 1, 2024, the reins of leadership have been passed down to a familiar face — Jenn Jenich-Laplander, Ed Jenich’s daughter. With a legacy of service ingrained in her DNA and a deep-rooted connection to the community and the organization’s mission, Jenich-Laplander is poised to lead The Keweenaw Health Foundation into its next phase of growth and impact.
Jenich-Laplander brings with her a fresh perspective to the role of Executive Director. Her passion for healthcare advocacy and community engagement is evident, making her a natural fit to carry forward her father’s legacy. As she assumes her new responsibilities, Jenich-Laplander is committed to building upon the foundation’s successes and exploring innovative strategies to address evolving healthcare needs.
The transition from father to daughter at the helm of The Keweenaw Health Foundation symbolizes the continuity of a family legacy rooted in service and dedication to community health. It exemplifies the foundation’s commitment to fostering leadership from within and ensuring a seamless transition for the benefit of the community it serves.
“We are excited for the transition,” said Dan Dalquist, Keweenaw Health Foundation Board President. “This transition reaffirms our commitment to excellence, innovation, and community-centered healthcare. With Ed’s faithful leadership and continued support on the Board of Directors and welcoming Jenn, a longstanding partner of the foundation, we are well-positioned to sustain our positive influence on the health and well-being of the community for years to come.”
