ISHPEMING, Mich, (WZMQ) – Next week the City of Ishpeming is starting the first section of a $16,000,000 project to repair and modernize its aging sewer system.
The project will be completed in sections, beginning with the underneath Second, Elm, and Ash streets, near the Marquette County Road Commission office.
The Ishpeming city manager Craig Cugini said to expect some lane closures and detours near the project areas.
“Our goal is to do it in a way that’s most effective but also least intrusive into people’s lives,” said Cugini. “So I would say we call it a district right, we district out sections of town in the best way we can.”
The city plans to have the first section complete sometime in the next four to six weeks, with the full project finished by late 2026.
