HUMBOLDT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – At approximately 2:23 pm on Thursday, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle crash on US-41 just east of Wolf Lake Road in Humboldt Township.
According to the press release, a 79-year-old Humboldt Township resident was driving a Ford pickup when he had a slight medical issue which may have caused him to black out briefly. The vehicle crossed over the center line and down an embankment, striking a power pole guide wire, and then into several trees. The power pole snapped but did not come down.
The airbags in the pickup did not deploy, but the driver was wearing a seatbelt. Two witnesses to the crash were able to assis the driver out of the vehicle before police or EMS arrived on the scene. The driver was transported to UPHS-Bell for non-life threatening injuries.
Due to the location of the vehicle, several trees were removed to get the truck removed.
Assisting at the scene was the Michigan State Police, Humboldt Township Fire Department, UPHS-EMS, WETASA First Responders, and Anttila’s Towing Service.
