Escanaba Kiwanis Home & Garden Show returns to U.P. State Fairgrounds April 12 – 14

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba Kiwanis Club is hosting its annual Home and Garden Show at the U.P. State Fairgrounds April 12 – 14.

The Kiwanis Cub has been hosting the free event for more than three decades. This year’s show features 63 vendors, ranging from roofing and window specialists to flooring and lawn care.

Kiwanis Club board member Michael Markwell says the Home and Garden Show is a great way to get ideas for that big spring project.

“I know as a homeowner myself, I’ve got a lot of projects that I need to get done,” he said. “We have great vendors who are more than willing to help with some of those projects. Anything you’re looking for, you’re able to find here.”

Suamico-based American Metal Roofs is once again sponsoring the event. President Ray Farmer says the Kiwanis Home and Garden Show always helps businesses connect with new customers.

“For all the vendors, it’s a great opportunity for ourselves to meet all the folks in the community,” said Farmer. “We’ve been in business around 17 years now and installed hundreds of roofs of all different types. We love to work in the U.P. It’s our fun time up here!”

The Michigan State University (MSU) Extension is hosting presentations throughout the weekend on a variety of topics, including smart gardening, honey beekeeping, and food preservation. Extension staff and Master Gardeners will also have gardening resources and lead family-friendly activities.

The Kiwanis Club is also serving up its fan-favorite “Pancake Days” meal Friday evening, until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and all day Sunday. The meal costs $9 for adults and $6 for those ages 6 to 12. Kids ages 5 and under eat for free. Proceeds from the Pancake Days meal will go toward local nonprofit youth organizations.

The Kiwanis Home and Garden Show runs Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Click here for more information about the event. View the full schedule of MSU Extension presentations here.
