KI SAWYER, Mich, (WZMQ) – Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport experienced flight delays on Wednesday due to the winter weather.
Airline companies preemptively delayed or rescheduled both passenger and cargo flights headed to KI Sawyer due to concerns about runway conditions and power outages.
Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport’s Director of Operations Duane DuRay said although they are prepared to deal with winter weather, safety always comes first.
“We are well equipped and well trained for this and we pivot where we have to,” said Duray, “and we manage the snow event to try to make the airfield as safe and operable as possible.”
Flights to and from KI Sawyer aren’t expected to resume until at least Thursday.
