The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge is preparing to host a number of events in April lined up with some major celestial events. KML Activities Director Chris Guibert, who is also an avid photographer, says the tip of the Keweenaw is a great place for viewing the night sky and snapping some breathtaking photos.
First, all are welcome to attend a solar eclipse viewing party at the lodge on Monday, April 8 starting at 2 p.m. Eclipse glasses will be available as well as a telescope that will allow people to look at the eclipse “up close” and take photos.
Then, April 11 – 13 will be the Dark Sky Festival, coinciding with International Dark Sky Week. There will be activities and events throughout the festival to celebrate the KML’s status as an official dark sky location — one of only about 200 in the world.
