MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Friday, members of the community joined together at the Saint Peter Cathedral to observe a Good Friday mass.
Parishioners gathered to listen to and sing hymns and scripture to reflect on the meaning of Good Friday. In the Christian religion, the crucifixion is called “good” because it is the demonstration of God’s love through the death of the Christ, Jesus, who became the atonement for the sins of the world. It’s followed by Easter Sunday, marking the day Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead.
Saturday there will be a mass being held at 9 p.m. just after sundown. There will also be two masses on Easter Sunday, one at 8 a.m. and another at 10 a.m.
