ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The City of Ishpeming is continuing to build on its agricultural opportunities within Partridge Creek Farms. Ishpeming was 1 of 100 cities statewide to receive a $300,000 Community Center Grant that’s going towards supporting its partnership with Partridge Creek Farms.
The non-profit’s biggest goal is to finish its intergenerational farm to expand agriculture education. Although gardening is focused on in the summer, in the winter, Partridge Creek Farms opens up workshop opportunities that teach food preservation, health and wellness, and school programs that continue to get people interested in agriculture.
“We really focus on the intergenerational component of it, so we’re really trying to bring all ages of the Ishpeming Community together even if you’re not from Ishpeming you are more than welcome to come and hang out at one of our workshops hang out at one of our farms, sign up for anything that we offer we are not going to exclude anybody,” commented Partridge Creek Farms Executive Director Sara Johnson.
