WELLS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – No humans were injured in a structure fire that happened in Wells Township on Thursday evening.
According to Escanaba Public Safety, officers were dispatched to 3239 18th Road for a metal barn that was fully engulfed with fire, as well as a nearby camper. The fire was also starting to spread into the woods nearby.
Officers were able to stop the spread of the fire, and extinguish the fire at the barn, but the barn and the camper are considered to be a total loss.
No humans were injured, however two piglets were lost in the fire. All other animals, including horses, chickens, and ducks, survived.
Officers were on the scene for approximately two and a half hours, and were assisted by the Escanaba Township Fire Department, Delta County Central Dispatch Center, and Rampart EMS.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
