MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) is back in Marquette after many years of being away.
F3T, established in 2006, highlights a variety of top worldwide fly fishing short films in hopes to inspire conservation, offer camaraderie, and foster community.
Loads of fun will be sprinkled throughout this event, having raffles, concessions, and a few booths with people available to answer any questions about fly fishing, cold water conservation, the Fred Waara Chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU) and more.
“There’s probably a little over two hours of good action packed fly fishing films,” said John Highlen, President of the Fred Waara Chapter of Trout unlimited. “It’s from all over the world there’s some from North America there’s stuff closer to home, some in the salt water flats, tropical areas, all kinds of different fish and all kinds of different people fishing for these fish. It’s about as close as your gonna get to fishing without getting splashed by water.”
The Marquette F3T received many donations and prizes from local sponsors helping to get this event rolling. With Adam Carpenter, a local radio host, as the emcee and all the generous donations, the Fred Waara Chapter of Trout Unlimited is hoping this F3T event is a success.
“Even if your not a fly fisher, if you’re just a general outdoors person it’ll be a fun event for ya,” said Highlen.
The funds raised at this event will go to support the outreach and fundraising for the Fred Waara Chapter of TU in hopes to support their Education Programs and Conservation Projects that span 2/3 of the Upper Peninsula.
The F3T event will be held on March 23rd from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Forest Roberts Theater. Tickets for the event are $20 for the general public, and $15 for NMU students. Tickets for F3T can be purchased at the NMU Ticketing office.
