L’ANSE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College is making a commitment to supply the U.P. with more nurses.
The college is now enrolling students in its recently accredited nursing program. KBOCC administrators say the program has been 4 years in the making.
Graduating students will receive an associate of nursing sciences degree. The program will have its first cohort of students this fall and plans to enroll 16-20 students to start.
“We did some surveys and the nursing kept popping up, we listened to what our communities needed, we spoke to all the medical facilities in the area, and this is what came about,” remarked KBOCC President Lori Sherman.
The college is encouraging anyone to apply for the program. Applications can be found here.
