LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A new veteran transitional complex will soon be coming to the Copper Country.
The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) on Tuesday announced $2 million in state funding is being divided among 13 non-profits around Michigan to address veteran homelessness. The grants are about $150,000 each.
Soldier Salvation, a charitable organization based in Laurium dedicated to addressing veteran homelessness, will receive funding to create a four-unit transitional complex serving Houghton and Keweenaw Counties. The grant will cover six phases of the project, including deed recording, ownership transfer, electrical upgrades, building upgrades, appliances, and more.
