MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Northern Michigan University held its career day today, giving students a variety of industries to network with and opportunities to jump on.
The U.S. National Guard, part-time summer camp employment, and jobs in Nature conservation were just some of the opportunities tabled at the Northern Center.
There were a lot of opportunities in the room but recruiters said just being able to have a face-to-face conversation with these companies helps break down a lot of stress when interviewing for jobs.
“If I had the opportunity to go to career fairs and I don’t even know if they were available back when I was in school in 06. But it would’ve given you the foot in the door. The networking opportunities, being able to talk to law enforcement agents sheriffs departments, or public safety, and being able to network outside of the classroom,” commented the Army National Guard Recruiter Brian Bizeau.
Coons Franklin Lodge and Little Harbor Club are looking for summer cooks, housekeepers, and dishwashers.
