Escanaba Public Library hosts Winter Reading Challenge for teens and adults

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This winter, the Escanaba Public Library is challenging both teens and adults to pick up some books.

The library’s Winter Reading Challenge is underway now through March 16. After picking up a Winter Reading bookmark at the library, participants can log six titles and authors they read.

“It’s just a fun thing to do,” said Adult Services and Reference Librarian Monique Ciofu. “People are looking for some diversion in the wintertime to take their mind off the weather, and it gives them incentive to read.”

All genres and formats are acceptable, including audio and e-books, books on CD, magazines, and graphic novels.

“Whatever’s fun and enjoyable for them is what they should read,” Ciofu said. “We’re always promoting reading in all forms.”

Everyone who completes the Winter Reading Challenge and returns their log to the library will receive a prize, with local potter Al Hansen will providing a limited supply of specially made mugs. Readers may begin turning in their logs for prizes on February 12.

Now through February 19, the Escanaba Public Library is also hosting a Big Movie Watch film review on its virtual streaming service, Kanopy. Participants can watch romantic comedy “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” and discuss it with other reviewers online. Click here for full details.

For questions about any of the library’s programs, visit the Escanaba Public Library at 400 Ludington Street or call (906) 789-7323. Visit the library’s website or Facebook page for more upcoming events and activities.
