NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – It was the first night of the Heikki Lunta festival tonight in Negaunee.
Starting off the weekend of events was the rail jam sponsored by the Compound Ski and Board Shop. Skiers and snowboarders of all ages competed by doing tricks on the ramps and rails set up throughout the week by the Negaunee DPW.
According to organizers the event is great for getting the community involved in the celebration.
“It is wonderful to be apart of anything the city of Negaunee has, we are happy to support with our Downtown Irontown Rail Jam, get things excited, get the youth out here, and get people watching some exciting wonderful events in the winter,” remarked Brandon Croney the owner of the Compound Ski and Board shop.
Heikki Lunta continues throughout the weekend with breakfast at the Negaunee Eagles Club at 8 a.m.
