ISHPEMING, Mich, (WZMQ) – On Wednesday, Westwood High School cut the ribbon on its newly renovated two million dollar “Louis Praznik” CTE center.
The facility is named after a long time CTE teacher at Westwood and NMU, who showed up on Wednesday to cut the ribbon himself.
These new renovations, made possible by the school’s sinking fund, include new classrooms and equipment for a variety of technical education, including auto, welding, and woodworking.
Nice Community Schools Superintendent Bryan DeAugustine said the new facilities will go a long way towards helping Westwood’s students get prepared to enter the workforce.
“Our students get a fully immersed experience learning about a career in technical education,” said DeAugustine, “and they can walk out of high school and get a job. Many of our graduates have done that, they’ve graduated from Westwood High School and started their jobs that summer, earning adult salaries right out of high school.”
DeAgustine said he hopes to use the sinking fund to add more classrooms for their growing student body in the future.
