NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Michigan State Police is investigating multiple large-scale larcenies throughout Marquette County as far back as two years.
MSP Negaunee Post troopers items found so far include Milwaukee tools, gasoline, generators, construction equipment (cement and scaffolding), lawnmowers, sawblades, hand tools, hardware, merchandise racks from Dollar General, ladders, trail cameras, small heaters, propane tanks, jet skis, barn/tin roofing, trailers, lawn care equipment, and a number of guns including a side-by-side Sterlingworth antique shotgun, Remington 8170 12-gauge pump shotgun, and a 20 gauge over-under EAA firearm Baikal model.
The larcenies occurred in Ely Township, Tilden Township, Ishpeming Township, City of Ishpeming, and Forsyth Township. MSP says other unreported incidents may have occurred as well.
Troopers are working with the Ishpeming City Police Department, Forsyth Township Police Department, Ishpeming Township Police Department, the Michigan DNR, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
While investigating, troopers had numerous people come forward that did not originally report their stolen items. Troopers have recovered many of the items for victims after they came forward.
