ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A local channel is being brought back to Ishpeming, aiming to further inform residents of the city’s updates over the air. After a three-year leave, the pandemic, and outdated equipment, channel 189 is back on Spectrum and available for the first time on the Charter channels.
This channel is also the charter’s first HD channel. This is a public, education, and government or PEG channel that will allow Ishpeming to stream a live program of its city meetings.
The city manager noted that residents will also be able to view city updates, weather alerts, and any other information that would be useful to residents of Ishpeming.
“They’ve seen it for years they’ve grown up with it and they wanna see it again and here it is. There’s gonna be a lot of things we can do over time with the channel right now we’re just kind of bringing it back up and getting it into the home and sharing information but we want to build his out and be a more interactive channel over time,” commented Ishpeming’s City Manager Craig Cugini.
