FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – According to the Forsyth Township Police Department, the agency was contacted at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday morning in regards to a potential threat directed towards the Gwinn HS/MS via social media.
The subject who sent the message was contacted within a short period of time. FTPD, along with Gwinn Area Community School Officials took all necessary precautions as information was being vetted to ensure the safety of the students, staff and school.
Authorities say although the investigation is still ongoing, there is no imminent threat to the school. All actions were taken as emergency protocol.
The Forsyth Township Police were assisted by the Marquette City Police K-9 unit, Marquette County Sheriff Department, Marquette County Central Dispatch and the Michigan Tech Police Department.
