IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The downtown of Iron Mountain welcomed a new addition – Aloe Collective, a chic boutique located just across from the Michigan Welcome Center on Stephenson Avenue. The store, owned by Carley Roose, offers an eclectic mix of women’s clothing, home goods, and beauty services, including eyelash extensions, bridal makeup, and airbrush sunless tanning.
Roose, the visionary behind Aloe Collective, shared her inspiration, stating, “I knew I wanted to do something a little bit more. Especially in the off-season, slower times. So I started this boutique. ALOE stands for a little of everything. So I just wanted to bring different pieces in for, you know, ages from 20 years old all the way up to 90 years old.” She emphasized the inclusivity of fashion, expressing, “I don’t think there’s a limit on what age can wear what.”
Having returned from California in May, Roose, a licensed aesthetician, explained, “My dream has always been to have a clothing boutique.” Reflecting on her offerings, she said, “I want these pieces to be collectible. I want you to come in here and find everyday wear that you can dress up or down, and you can keep forever and re-wear 1000 times.”
Aiming for a one-stop-shop experience, Aloe Collective features Nora Rose lash for eyelash extensions by Carson. Roose envisions the boutique as a collective of everything, making it convenient for shoppers.
There is some upkeep with lash extensions, and eyelash clients come in between every 2 to 3 weeks for maintenance touch-ups. The lash technician can do full sets or customize to the individual. Everything is completely customizable to the individual’s eyes and eye shape, but there are three standard sets the lash tech starts from. A classic full set with all the products to go with it start at $150.
Open six days a week, the boutique offers appointments for beauty services from Monday to Friday. Roose expressed her desire to create a vibrant community with fun events, reminiscent of those she enjoyed in California. She believes in the importance of getting people out of their homes, stating, “I think that’s really important.”
Looking ahead, Roose revealed plans for a Valentine’s Day event on February 10, offering discounts, refreshments, and potentially permanent jewelry. She also shared winter style tips, encouraging customers to stay warm while looking cute with layered pieces, including sweaters, camisoles, and turtlenecks.
With a successful grand opening that drew around 75 shoppers, Aloe Collective is poised to become a fashion and beauty hub in Iron Mountain, bringing Roose’s dream of a vibrant, community-oriented boutique to life.
