MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A student at Northern Michigan University has been arrested for making a false bomb threat.
18-year-old Cesar Ivan Espinoza was arrested on Wednesday by Northern Michigan University Public Safety. Few details of the case are available at this time, and the incident is still under investigation according to NMU Public Safety.
He was arraigned in the 96th District Court in Marquette on Wednesday. He was charged with one felony count of false report or threat of bomb or harmful device, and one misdemeanor count of assault and battery.
NMU released the following statement on the arrest: “Cesar Espinoza is currently a NMU student. The NMU Police Department received a report of a possible threat and conducted an investigation and it was determined there was no danger to the community.“
Espinoza is due back in court for a Probable Cause Conference on December 14, and a Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for December 21.
