ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Next week, Youth Empowering Services (Y.E.S.) is hosting a fundraiser to benefit young people in Delta and Menominee Counties.
The nonprofit’s inaugural Y.E.S. Holiday Bash will take place on Thursday, December 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m inside the Ruth Butler Building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. The event will feature catering by Wiles Food Services, live music by the Jam Band, drinks from the Toasting Pony, raflles, and more. Anyone is welcome to attend.
“Not only is it an opportunity to do fundraising, but it is an opportunity for us as a program under the Community Foundation [for Delta County] to say thank you to the community, to our mentors, and to provide something fun to the community that’s also going to a great cause,” said Y.E.S. Executive Director Tiffany Hewitt.
To date, Youth Empowering Services has connected 186 students in nine schools with adult mentors. The money raised by the Holiday Bash will go toward expanding the organization’s outreach next year.
“In addition to our 19 programs we have within the nine schools, we have three new programs starting after the new year,” Hewitt said. “Some of these proceeds will help get those started.”
The names of each student in the mentorship program will be on display, along with ways to sponsor them directly.
Admission to the Y.E.S. Holiday Bash is $45 per person or $80 per couple. Limited V.I.P. sponsorship table seating is available for $750 – $1,000.
Walk-ins will be accepted, but guests are asked to secure their tickets by the end of the week (December 1) to guarantee a full plate at the dinner. To purchase tickets, visit yes906.org or call the Community Foundation for Delta County at (906) 786-6654.
