MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – With the holidays approaching, families around the U.P. will be looking for assistance to put food on the table.
The Salvation Army of Marquette County is stocking its food pantry to gear up for thanksgiving. According to the Salvation Army they have seen an uptick of requests for assistance this year compared to last.
Donations of non perishable items such as pasta, canned vegetables, soups, and bottled waters are in high demand. The Salvation Army says when making a donation think about the type of food items seen at holiday gatherings.
“We do a lot of pasta and pasta sauces, think how would I make a meal? If I could make a meal with this, and then that is what you donate,” said Cari Detmers, the Development Director at the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army is also seeking non-food donations, the most requested item is hygiene products.
Donations can be dropped off in person at any Salvation Army store.
