ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Great Lakes Recovery Center has received funding to provide transportation services to patients across the U.P.
The GLRC has been allocated $200,000 from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The MDHHS has recently awarded $2.7 million to treatment centers around the country to provide transportation services.
The money will be used to purchase vehicles and provide rides to treatment centers and community services provided by the GLRC. Transportation is provided free of charge to patients.
“With the barrier associated with transportation the resources the state is going to provide is going to be a multi-year assistance,” remarked Greg Toutant, the CEO of GLRC.
According to the GLRC the hope is to have vehicles purchased and providing rides by January 2024.
