MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette based business incubator is expanding its ability to help entrenprenuer’s.
Today they officially opened their Protolab in downtown Marquette. The lab will allow the team at innovate to work directly with entrepreneurs to develop prototypes and test their ideas.
Thanks to grants from the USDA and community partners the lab has been able to help secure 9 patents for local entrepreneurs. The businesses that have received patents are now working to develop their business for commercialization.
“Going from a concept to a working functional prototype is a big step for people,” said Joe Thiel, the Direction Setter at Innovate Marquette, he went on to say, “We have actually had a lot of products in the past that could not make that leap, so we have now filled that gap.”
After an entrepreneur has worked with the Protolab, Innovate Marquette will help them move forward to the next step of their business.
