IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – In a momentous event at a VA Customer Experience Symposium in Washington, D.C., Iron Mountain’s Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center achieved a remarkable honor.
Amidst a gathering of healthcare professionals and experts, the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center was celebrated for its exceptional dedication to veteran care. Out of a staggering 170 hospitals across the nation, this medical center stood out for its excellence within the Veteran Health Administration.
The Customer Experience Award ceremony, which took place for the fiscal year 2022, was a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center. For five consecutive years now, it has maintained its reign as the pinnacle of patient care and satisfaction.
“It’s just amazing,” the award presenter began as she announced the recipient.
Dr. John P. Shealy, the VA Hospital’s Director, personally selected a frontline staff member to accept the prestigious accolade on behalf of the institution. “I think we can all tell that we’ve got a servant-leader in our midst as he brought in a frontline staff member to accept that award,” the presenter commented.
Sheri Tyner, a dedicated Medical Support Assistant hailing from the Gladstone Community-Based Outpatient Clinic affiliated with the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, proudly stepped forward to receive this year’s award.
With this remarkable achievement, the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center has etched its name in history as the only VA Medical Center to secure the Best Patient Experience Award for five consecutive years, spanning the entirety of the award’s existence.
