MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – After 4 years of waiting Kognisjon Bryggeri unveiled its latest UPAWS inspired beer Friday night.
Each year UPAWS, the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, auctions off the chance to name a beer after a pet at its “Paws for a Cause” Gala.
The 2019 raffle winners, Mark and Chris Troudt, had to wait for their beer due to the pandemic. After being patient for almost 4 years, instead of naming a beer after a pet, the Troudts decided to turn the spotlight on the UPAWS staff. This year’s beer is a limited edition raspberry wit-bier called “UPAWS staff pick.”
“I just think its a really wonderful opportunity to highlight [the UPAWS staff] in our community, because the work they do behind the scenes helps so many animals, and people,” remarked Amber Talo, a UPAWS volunteer who helped to organize the event.
The beer, which the brewery made about 800 pints worth of, will be available as long as supplies last. One dollar from every pint sold will be donated back to UPAWS.
