HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Houghton man is sentenced to prison in the death of a L’Anse man late last summer.
Luke Kreider, 20, was sentenced to 15 to 45 years on Tuesday.
On September 2, 2022, Kreider was initially charged with assault with intent to murder after sending a 24-year-old L’Anse man to the hospital with serious injuries. The man later died of those injuries in the hospital, and Kreider’s charge was changed to homicide- open murder.
In June, the homicide- open murder charge was dismissed, and Kreider pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of homicide- second degree murder.
In addition to his prison sentence, Kreider was ordered to pay fines and was given credit for time served.
