MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette Junior Hockey was awarded a $10,000 grant. The grant is a part of The Aniket Dhadphale Junior Hockey Designated Fund that was started with the Community Foundation of Marquette County back in 2015. The fund is named after hockey player Aniket Dhadphale, who got his start playing with The Marquette Electricians Junior Hockey team.
The fund goes to help young hockey players with travel costs, uniforms, and other general expenses. The Community Foundations CEO, Zosia Eppensteiner, said The Foundation works with the community, and provides ways to ensure each donation achieves the greatest possible impact.
“When you think about Anikets career and him being here today and saying, ‘this is so important for our kids’ as it was for him, these things are just so important.” Eppensteiner said. “This is exactly why this type of fund and The Community Foundation is important.”
The Aniket Dhadphale Junior Hockey Designated Fund is also celebrating a half a million-dollar endowment milestone.
