ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Friday evening, an American Idol winner performed in the center of Downtown Escanaba.
Radio Results Network hosted its third annual Block Party outside the RRN Media Plaza.
The crowd enjoyed performances by Dueling Pianos and headliner Phillip Phillips. Phillips won American Idol in 2012 and is known for singles like “Home” and “Gone, Gone, Gone.” The event also featured food trucks, photos by June’s Booth Bus, and fundraisers for local nonprofits.
RRN General Manager Jesse Huff says the Block Party brings people into the downtown and helps them support their community.
“I hope they remember how great our downtown is, how many things there are to do not only in Escanaba but throughout the Upper Peninsula,” Huff said. “We live in an amazing, amazing community, and it’s just good to enjoy this weather, enjoy time with our neighbors, and remind us how great Delta County and the Upper Peninsula is.”
Huff says the event continues to grow each year, with approximately 2,000 people in attendance at this year’s RRN Block Party.
