MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – If you’ve driven through downtown Marquette in the past few days you may have noticed the beginning of a new project on the corner of 3rd and Washington street.
Hannah Milkie is the Marquette artist behind the project. With the help of The Trenary Toast Café she’s begun work a new mural. Milkie has completed multiple other murals around Marquette and Negaunee. She says previously she worked on projects inside of Trenary Toast, and on the Tamaki, Rose’s Dugout, and Blackrocks buildings, and also at Strega Nona’s in Negaunee.
Milkie says she can’t reveal the final product yet, but as her work continues there will be more clues to the final picture.
“It’s a dream come true.” Milkie said. “I think it’s every artist’s goal to have a platform this big for their work to be seen, but it’s still surreal to me.”
Milkie says it’ll take her and her helpers a couple weeks to get the whole mural done if the weather stays nice.
