MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Parents and guardians had the chance to have their child’s car seat checked for free today in Marquette Township.
Expectant Mothers who have not yet given birth were welcomed at the event. They were able to have their newborn car seats checked to ensure they were all prepared when the big day arrives.
Over 60 cars lined up at the Marquette Township Fire Station to be inspected by certified car seat safety technicians. seats were checked for proper installation, height and weight restrictions, and expiration dates. The event not only helps to ensure the safety of children using car seats but allows for the technicians to renew their certifications.
“If families were not able to come out to the event, you can reach out to some of the local organizations where the Safety Technicians work, that includes your local fire department and police department,” said Corey Holcomb, one of the Events Organizers.
The event was put on by the Marquette Great Start Parent Coalition Alongside the Marquette County Car Safety Committee.
