City of Kingsford Announces Unveiling of Ten-Millionth Mustang to Occur During Centennial Celebration

Kingsford, Mich. (WZMQ) – The City of Kingsford is going to be celebrating its 100th birthday, and it is gearing up for a 3-day centennial celebration starting on August 3rd. The festivities will include live music, a kids area, a “STEM” expo featuring robots, and a race up the steps at Pine Mountain. The highlight of the celebration will be a car show, featuring an exclusive unveiling of several special models of Ford vehicles, including the ten-millionth Ford Mustang. The community parade on August 5th will be led by Grand Marshals, Rick and Marty Lagina, from the reality series ‘The Curse of Oak Island.’

“Ford Motor Company is our headline sponsor, they’re sending up three very cool vehicles. The biggest one is going to be in the parade with our Grand Marshals, and that’s the ten-millionth Ford Mustang that was produced. It’s a white convertible, that will be here. They’re also sending up a brand-new Ford Bronco Raptor, a pretty neat-looking Bronco – and an EV F-150 Lightning. So those will be on display here at the grounds and probably at our car show as well, which is on that Saturday,” announced the Centennial’s event coordinator, John Jessen. The Centennial anticipates a great turnout of both local and out-of-town guests for the 100-year anniversary.

Parade Chairperson Ashley Ellis expressed excitement about the event, stating, “We are very excited to announce our local grand marshals, Rick and Marty Lagina. They’re the Oak Island Brothers from the reality series the curse of Oak Island. Some people come for the horses, so if you’re not here for Rick and Marty, you can come for the horses or some beautiful floats.”

Ellis says the parade is welcoming entries from Cities beyond just Kingsford.

“We have strong connections with other local communities, including Quinnesec, Iron Mountain, and even Niagara in Wisconsin. We encourage applications from anyone who wants to contribute to our well-rounded parade,” Ellis added.

The deadline to get a float in the parade is no later than July 14th. Ashley Ellis, the parade chairperson, is the point of contact for getting a float entered into the parade. Entry fees are $50 for businesses, politicians, or community members. Non-profits, churches, organizations, and clubs have a $30 application fee to be entered.

The parade route will start by Ford Park Coming from the Kingsford High School, head down Woodward Avenue, and loop back to the middle school entrance by Pyle Drive.

It’s important to note that prices for the festival will increase to gate prices after July 21st, so any tickets purchased on July 22 or after will reflect that price increase.
