MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – This summer is the 25th anniversary of The Lake Superior Theater in Marquette. To celebrate, this year’s season is opening up with a Lake Superior Theater classic – Beacon on The Rock.
Marquette artist Shelley Russell wrote the show 25 years ago, it was the first show to open at the theater in 1998. It’s all about the immigrant families who settled in The UP. Russel says the show is a celebration of family and The Upper Peninsula.
“Now we have 25 years of beacon family cast members who come back and sing with us every time we do it and audience members who come and sing with us every time we do it,” Russell says, “it’s really become a fun event.”
Beacon on The Rock is open now at The Lake Superior Theater through July 8th, the show starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are on sale online at NMU.UniversityTickets.com
