NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The annual Negaunee High School alumni softball tournament is in full swing.
Tonight was the highly anticipated home run derby. Hitters from the class of 1985 all the way to the class of 2022 competed in the derby.
Money raised during the event will go directly back to the Negaunee Irontown Association which works to preserve heritage in the town.
The derby raised around $250 but organizers say the best of the tournament is yet to come.
“Tomorrow will definitely be the highlight of the tournament. There will be a big turnout tomorrow for the championship, it’s a really big thing for the town,” said tournament director Justin Renfros.
The championship game will tee off tomorrow night at 8:30 at LaCombe field in Negaunee.
