MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Mariucci Family Beacon House is a shelter for the families and caregivers of those receiving specialized care or dealing with a medical crisis in Marquette. The non profit hosts a fundraiser every year to support the house and keep it affordable to those in need.

Tonight’s Grill and Chill fundraiser was sold out and full of people excited to try out the grill masters food and raise funds for a good cause. The man of the hour, Steve Mariucci was there with his family to enjoy festivities and support The Beacon House.

“They’re caregivers, they’re mom and dad.” Mariucci says, “We service the patients and their families who are in need of a place to stay and who are in a tough spot and we’re here to help them.”

The event was a grill off, with three grill masters to vote for, guests got to enjoy whiskey tasting and a live raffle while voting for their favorite dish. The Hospitality House CEO, Mary Tavernini Dowling says over 150 guests were there to support the house and raise money for its everyday operations.

“It’s always so exciting to me when I see all the names coming in,” Tavernini Dowling says, “all the people who are buying the tickets, and then when I actually get to see them here I have to admit that I do shed a few tears because it is overwhelming to have so many wonderful amazing important people sharing their hard earned money with us so we can help others in need.”

Themed ‘A Night in Nashville’ the fundraiser ended with a live country music performance from his son.

“At the end of the day this is to fundraise for the beacon house.” Stephen Ray Mariucci says, “With the live auction items and everybody supporting who bought tables and tickets just to be here.. It’s a big deal and is obviously something very special that they’re doing here.”

Steve Mariucci says it was a beautiful day to come home and be able to raise funds to help the beacon house.
