ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This weekend, an event at the U.P. State Fairgrounds is raising money for animals in search of forever homes.
The Delta Animal Shelter kicked off its Wags-A-Tail Rummage Sale inside the Miracle of Life building on Friday. Each item available to purchase was donated by the public.
The rummage sale is the shelter’s second-largest fundraiser. According to shelter operations coordinator Vonnie Bruce, it typically brings in approximately $5,000. All proceeds will be used to fund the shelter’s day-to-day operations.
“We have a great community,” said Bruce. “Everyone always really shows up for us. I think this is one of their favorite events too, because they get to de-clutter their house and support the shelter at the same time. It’s a really awesome event!”
The Wags-A-Tail Rummage Sale continues on Saturday, June 10, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m. Some items often go on sale during the final hours of the event.
Bruce says any items not sold will be donated to a local thrift store.
