MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Diocese of Marquette ordained a new priest Friday afternoon.
After studying the word of God for 8 years, Deacon Matthew Chartier’s vocation ceremony was held Friday afternoon to recognize his journey with Christ. The ceremony included prayer, a changing of Chartier’s alb robes, and being welcomed into the brotherhood by the other priests.
The Diocese commented that it’s humbling to see a younger generation take up this lifelong calling and that these ceremonies are an opportunity to applaud his dedication.
“It’s just a great joy to have you know a young man like him to devote his life to the church and it means the world to us to see the church growing and see young people involved to that extent,” said Marquette Diocese Communication Director John Fee.
