MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Three men from Atlanta, Georgia are facing multiple felonies after police found stolen checks and forgery tools in their vehicle.
Michigan State Police arrested 28-year-old Traveon Reese, 20-year-old Demarcos Miller, and 22-year-old Demetric Steele on May 22. Each faces 10 felonies, including four counts each of forgery, four counts each of using a computer to commit a crime, one count each of possession of tools used for counterfeiting, and one count each of receiving or concealing stolen property between $1,000 and $20,000.
Troopers say on May 22, they received information about a vehicle suspected of being used in stealing mail from a Marquette County business. Troopers found the vehicle in the parking lot of a Marquette-area hotel, identified the three suspects, and obtained a search warrant.
Police found numerous stolen checks from multiple states along with various components used in check fraud.
All three were lodged in the Marquette County Jail, arraigned on May 23, and each posted their $1,000 cash bond on May 24.
All three are due back in court on June 1.
