NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The annual Goof Fest is happening Saturday in Negaunee at Smarty’s Saloon bar to remember local legend Alan “Goofus” Ammesmaki.
Goofus was a cheerleader at Negaunee High School, and when he passed, the Goof Fest was created to celebrate his life. The event will be held from 1-5 p.m. and will feature Pierre Ogea Karaoke, prizes, and more.
“When Goofus passed he left a big hole in a lot of hearts and in the middle of his heart was the city of Negaunee everything about it he loved and we wanted to just keep his memory alive,” said the owner of Smarty’s Saloon Scott Soeltner.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the Alan “Goofus” Ammesmaki Negaunee High School Scholarship where two seniors will be awarded the scholarship.
