WASHINGTON, D.C. (WZMQ) – Congressman Jack Bergman confirmed to WZMQ that he will seek re-election in 2024.
The four-term republican was first elected to represent Michigan’s 1st Congressional District in 2016. Rep. Bergman said that he remains concerned about the future, and particularly the younger generations. He also said that he believes he can continue to be an effective voice for the 1st District in Congress, and wants to continue his work for veterans and the military, but added he will represent all of his constituents on important issues.
Democrat Bob Lorinser announced he will run again for the seat earlier this year. Democrat Callie Barr also announced her candidacy in early April.
This is a developing story. WZMQ will provide updates as they become available.
