GWINN, Mich, (WZMQ) – Next week MDOT, Forsyth Township, and the Marquette County Road Commission will begin a $4.4 million dollar road renovation project in Gwinn.
A .66 mile stretch of M-35 from smith street to the east branch of the Escanaba river will receive asphalt reconstruction and infrastructure repairs.
The project also includes watermain and sanitary sewer replacements, alongside adding concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
According to MDOT businesses should not be affected by the roadwork.
“We’ll have that east bound or southbound traffic able to go through so they won’t have to be detoured, there definitely will be some impacts on traffic we know that, we just ask everybody to be patient while we work on this project, because it is needed,” said MDOT Superior Region communications director Dan Weingarten.
The first phase of the project is to repave and repair the detour route which will use Southgate Drive in Gwinn. The whole project is scheduled to be completed by late October.
