MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Over 40 Marquette men and women have been training since January to put on a ballet performance which premiers tomorrow at the Kaufman Auditorium.
“A Night at the Ballet” features dancers as young as 5 all the way to 55 years old. Open auditions were held in January and since then the cast and crew have been working hard to prepare for opening night.
Some dancers, like Connor Ryan, don’t have much ballet dancing experience but are eager to perform
“I’m excited to get on stage and just feel the energy of the crowd and everybody’s collective attention, just in the moment,” remarked Ryan about the show.
The show is being put on by the Queen City Ballet Company alongside the Kaufman Auditorium. Proceeds from the performance will benefit the kaufman auditorium with some upcoming projects.
“We need to work on the piano, it needs some tuning, we need new speakers, new projectors, there’s a lot of little things, and big things we need purchases for,” said Camilla Mingay, the manager of the Kaufman Auditorium.
Tickets can be purchased online here for a $2 discount or at the door. Youth tickets are $11 and adult tickets are $17.
